Mineral composition estimations
Estimate the mineral composition of a sample from its elemental assays. When there are many possible mineral combinations from the elemental assays, two options are provided: results with the fewest minerals and results with more minerals. These are mathematical estimations and do not necessarily reflect the actual sample's mineralogy. If the results include one or more minerals that are not believed to be present in the sample, remove those minerals from the calculations and repeat the calculations for better accuracy.
- The calculations use theoretical mineral compositions; real minerals can vary in chemical composition.
- The calculations minimise the weighted assay error, which may not be the actual mineralogy.
- Missing elemental assays are estimated where necessary.
1. Elemental assays
Enter elemental assays in percent.
Leave the assay blank if the element is likely present but not assayed for.
Enter zero percent assay to exclude all minerals containing that element from the calculations.
